Wild Things (1998)
(R) 108 mins

Oy. I remember when the film first came out in 1998; I saw it and I liked it. I liked all the twists and turns, and two specific scenes come to mind. 5 years go by. I saw it a few nights ago…and realized how terrible a movie it is. I mean, the twists and turns aren't bad and all, but towards the second half of the film, there's a twist every scene. It gets to the point where the twists become predictable…which defeats the purpose of the twist altogether.

Then there's the additional 'I'm gonna bludgeon you to death with sexuality' tone. First of all, every female in the film wants Matt Dillon. And when I say every, I mean EVERY. In addition to that, there's some sort of sexual shot. No, I'm not gonna complain when I get to see Denise Richards' tits, but to draw a picture of what I'm talking about…we also see Matt Dillon with his shirt off, and when he wears one it's two sizes too small…and there's a shot of Kevin Bacon's ass. Great.

But what makes the film truly bad…is the acting. I honestly can't recall a film in which every major actor/actress gave a horrible performance. I guess it just goes to show you what truly matters in Hollywood. By the way, why is Bill Murray in this movie? The humor he brings to the film is discontinuous with the tone of the rest of the film. Whatever.
